At the Rising with the Yeast workshop

Thankfully, it was a sunny day, a harbinger of perfect weather for bread making. Rolling pins and cookie cutters at the ready, we just couldn't wait to get started on the class.

Starting with mascarpone coriander triangles, we decided to leave the tops open a little so a some of the filling could show through.

It was a good day for greens as this spinach and 2 cheese pie proved!

Good fun making these sesame seed rings. Yup, a mountain of seeds were used but they're healthy, right?

And then, everyone's favourite - the lemony nugget loaf. Soft, zesty, tangy and fragrant with the scent of lemons, this was the winner of the day. Mine too!

Rising with the Yeast - a workshop

Yeast is still on my mind. The proof, pardon the pun, is another bread workshop. This one took plenty of time to shape up as there were too many candidates loafing around... gosh I'd better stop before someone punches me down!

Jokes aside, for the past few months, most of my food experiments have involved flour and yeast. The result is "Rising with the Yeast" a workshop to be conducted on Saturday, August 8th. On the menu -

Spinach and 2 cheese pie - yes, a pie, a bread pie with a deliciously cheesy filling;
Mascarpone coriander triangles - a stuffed bun with an unusual flavour and ingredient combination;
Lemony nugget loaf - bread with a citric burst of flavour; and
Sesame seed rings - just the thing to boost your daily calcium intake!

'Rising with the Yeast' is on Thursday, August 27th, 10.30 am - 2.30 pm at Kottivakkam.
